The rule here

This is a thermal feature to see, not a place to get in the water. Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument puts it this way:

“the following areas are restricted or closed … West Border Road (Roosevelt Reservation) from the Lukeville Port of Entry west to Quitobaquito Springs”

Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, checked 2026-08-19

Worth knowing: The Park Service’s closure order, effective July 31, 2026 and in force until further notice, applies to all vehicles and pedestrian traffic. The monument describes the pond as home to the endangered Quitobaquito pupfish and Sonoyta mud turtle — “the only spot in the United States where these species can be found naturally occurring.”
