California State Parks operates a hot-spring-fed pool complex at Grover Hot Springs State Park, “four miles west of Markleeville, at the end of Hot Springs Road,” in an alpine meadow at 5,900 feet ringed by peaks that just top 10,000 feet. The park reports the “Pool complex is now open Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday,” in five daily sessions (10:00–11:30, 11:45–1:15, 1:30–3:00, 3:45–5:15, 5:30–7:00). Entry is $10 adult, $5 child, and “Pool tickets purchased at the park will be based on availability on a first come first serve basis.”

Trailhead: End of Hot Springs Road, four miles west of Markleeville

Winter: The park keeps camping open year-round, conditions permitting; winter camping moves to the picnic area and the RV/trailer length limit drops to 18 feet.
